Operator's rate pageOverview
Salt Run is the St. Augustine city mooring field in the creek behind Anastasia Island, away from the two fields in front of the town. The city describes it as home to many of the marina's long-term customers who live in the local area, says shore-side amenities there are at a minimum, and states plainly that it does not offer tender service to these moorings — so getting ashore is your own dinghy's job.
Moorings are assigned by the length and draft of the vessel and the duration of the visit.
The city publishes two sets of rates, and they do not agree
The City of St. Augustine publishes mooring rates in two places: a rate sheet it hosts as a PDF, and the Salt Run Moorings page on its website. For this field the two disagree on every line they both carry.
The transient day rate is $20.00 on the rate sheet and $25.00 on the Salt Run page. The monthly transient rate is $400.00 on the rate sheet and $460.00 on the Salt Run page. The day rate for a St. Johns County resident is $9.00 on the rate sheet and $15.00 on the Salt Run page. The city's downtown fields are split the same way, which makes this most of a municipal tariff rather than one stale line.
The dates do not settle it. The rate sheet says at the top that the rates are effective 1 April 2025; the website page carries no effective date at all. Nothing in either document says which figure the city is charging today.
This page therefore shows both figures and decides neither. Call the marina office on 904-825-1026 and have the amount confirmed before you book.
The water, in the city's words
The city's page for this field says the water tends to be much shallower. It does not say shallower than what, it gives no figure, and it names no datum — so there is nothing here to compare a draft against, and this page does not supply one. What the city does say is that it assigns moorings by the length and draft of the vessel, which is the point at which your draft gets looked at. Check the current chart, and give the marina your draft when you book.
Resident rates and what they ask for
The reduced city and county rates have to be proved. On top of the address shown on the vessel's Florida registration, the city asks for a residential address verified by one of three documents: a driver's license, a state ID, or a vehicle registration — any one of the three, and a vehicle registration is not a photo ID. For stays of 7 days or more, two further proofs are required on top of that; for shorter stays they are not.
Good to know
- Before you count on a rate: the city's two documents disagree on every rate this field has. Have the amount confirmed on 904-825-1026.
- No tender: the city does not offer tender service to these moorings — unlike the downtown fields, which have a launch.
- Ashore: the city says shore-side amenities here are at a minimum.
- Not first come: moorings are reserved, just as dockage is reserved, and the city says there is limited availability.
Questions
What does a night on a Salt Run mooring cost?
The City of St. Augustine publishes two different figures today: $20.00 on its mooring rate sheet and $25.00 on its Salt Run Moorings page. The rate sheet does not settle it: it is dated effective 1 April 2025, and the Salt Run page carries no date at all. We show both and decide neither — call 904-825-1026 and have the figure confirmed.
Is Salt Run shallower than the downtown mooring fields?
The city says the water tends to be much shallower, but it does not say shallower than what, and it publishes no figure and no datum for this field. Moorings are assigned by the length and draft of the vessel, so give the marina your draft when you book, and check the current chart.
Is there a launch to shore at Salt Run?
No. The city states that it does not offer tender service to these moorings, and that shore-side amenities there are at a minimum. The two downtown fields are the ones with the launch.
What is the monthly rate at Salt Run?
$400.00 on the city's rate sheet and $460.00 on its Salt Run Moorings page. Both are published by the city today and this page does not choose between them; confirm on 904-825-1026.
