“referred to a St. Lucie Canal stage of 14.5 feet”

“State Route 76A fixed highway bridge crossing the canal at Mile 17.01 has a clearance of 56 feet.”
NOAA U.S. Coast Pilot 4, 2026 (58th) Edition, Chapter 12 – Intracoastal Waterway

Datum

Coast Pilot 4, under the heading “Heights”: “Overhead clearances on the St. Lucie Canal from St. Lucie Lock to Port Mayaca Lock are referred to a St. Lucie Canal stage of 14.5 feet.” The figure is therefore not referred to a tidal datum.

Not the cables at Mile 17.1

Coast Pilot 4 names two structures here: overhead power and telephone cables at Mile 17.1, also 56 feet, and this bridge at Mile 17.01.
